RUKUNGIRI- In a bid to ease service delivery and extend financial assistance to the community, Rukiga Saco has opened up a branch in Rukungiri district.
Medius Kabajurizi the Rukiga Sacco General Manager used the Rukungiri branch official opening to ask residents to always make use of nearby financial institutions to avoid extra expenses like transport and time wastage
Based in Muhanga Town Council in Rukiga District, the SACCO started in 2002 and so far has 7 operating branches based in, Kabale, Kisiizi, Kashambya, Nyaruziba, Rwamucucu, Kamwezi and now Rukungiri al that are aimed at bringing services closer to their customers.
The Rukungiri branch manager Mathias Muhwezi hailed people for loving and supporting the newly opened branch since more than 60 opened accounts on the first day hence assuring them that they are committed to providing better services to their members.
Muhwezi called upon people to always visit their Sacco for consultations on its operations and the services they offer, especially school fees, Agriculture and boda boda loans.
Kellen Tumuhibise from central ward Kebisoni town council Rukungiri district who owns 10 shares in the Sacco testified that the Sacco has helped her to achieve her dream as a woman forexample according her money for school fees making it possible to educate her children.
Tumuhimbise therefore called upon people in Rukungiri to embrace this opportunity brought in their area to boost their social economic welfare and financial stability in their communities.
Rukiga Savings and credit society cooperative society limited was registered as a financial cooperative society under the cooperative status in 2004 as a farmer owned financial cooperative operating in Kigezi region, South Western Uganda but due to its good services and affordable loans at an interest of 2% , it has attracted people from all districts across Uganda.
As a Sacco, Rukiga Sacco has a vision of providing best financial services to members especially to farmers in South Western Uganda with the aim of poverty eradication, with their mission “to provide reliable financial services and non-financial services to members”, especially farmers in a sustainable way to improve their welfare and environment.
The Sacco has six strategic goals to guide it in the coming years that include providing demand driven financial services especially in Agriculture, internally finance the Sacco growth, empower community members with financial management skills and environmental protection awareness, increase financial inclusion especially for empowering women, strengthening governance and human resource capacity for quality service delivery and strengthening institutional competitiveness through technology.
They provide loans like Commercial, Agriculture, School fees, Salary, boda boda loans, Agriculture Equipment, Group loans and home improvement loans all with an interest of 2%per month whereas an emergency loan is at 5% and a fixed deposit is at 1.5% per annum.
The Rukiga Sacco Rukungiri Branch is located along Republic Road in Rukungiri Municipality Opposite Christ the King Church.
