President Museveni congratulates Kiplimo upon winning another gold medal in Commonwealth games


NEWS– President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has hit the social media and tweeted congratulating Uganda’s Athlete Jacob Kiplimo for winning another gold at the ongoing commonwealth games in Birmingham.

” I have learnt that in the absence of your teammate Cheptegei, you put up a brave display at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham to ensure Uganda remained dominant in the race for Gold since 2006″ President Museveni tweeted this morning.

President Museveni added that he was proud of Kiplimo’s winning and so is everyone else even back home in his community.

President Museveni congratulatory massage comes after Uganda’s 21 year old Jacob Kiplimo commanded Uganda’s tradition of winning the men’s 10 000m final at the Commonwealth Games.

Kiplimo lived to the billing as he won the men’s 10000m title at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham yesterday evening and his win means Uganda has won five times in a row since 2006.

In 2006, Boniface Kiprop triumphed in Melbourne followed by Moses Kipsiro who won the title in Delhi in 2010 and defended it in Glasgow in 2014 before Joshua Cheptegei won it in Gold Coast in 2018.

At the age of 21, Kiplimo has 8 major atheletics championship medals in 7 years and is the reigning World Half Marathon champion as well as the World record holder, having run 57.31 over 21K in Lisbon last year and his win takes Uganda’s medal tally to two at the ongoing Commonwealth Games
