Ntungamo woman MP roots for transparent & good leadership


NTUNGAMO- The Ntungamo district woman Member of Parliament Hon Joselyn Bata Kamateneti has commended church leaders for transparency, accountability and good leadership.

Hon Kamateneti said this on Sunday  during the farewell Mass at Kagamba Catholic parish for Rev Fr Alphonse Mukundane who was recently transferred to Rugazi Catholic parish in Rubirizi District.

She hailed Rev Fr Mukundane for being a good spiritual leader and development oriented who transformed families economically through the Gospel.

At the same function, Commissioner Hon Stephen Tashobya who thanked the Archbishop of Mbarara archdiocese for posting Rev Fr Mukundane to Ntungamo district particularly Kagamba catholic parish described him as a pillar of unity and generosity in the district.

The former woman MP Hon Beatrice Rwakimaari thanked parishioners for their good reception noting that it’s good for Rev Fr Mukundane to see what Christians are speaking before him. Hon Rwakimaari wished him well in his new assignment at Rugazi parish.

The Resident District Commissioner Ntungamo Mucunguzi Geoffrey also known as Cadre Mucunguzi told Christians to fight poverty at household levels if they are to develop and prosper.

Cadre Mucunguzi also hailed Rev Fr Mukundane for the splendiferous work done towards poverty eradication in the district.

During the farewell Mass led by Rev Fr John Baptist Turyahweebwa the priest Kyoga catholic parish in Isingiro district praised God who used Rev Fr Mukundane to perform a priest of truth and justice with commitment and passion.

Rev Fr Turyahweebwa thanked him for fulfilling the canonical obligations of a priest including holding Mass, Sacraments and spreading the true gospel on the top auxiliary activities.

In his farewell remarks, Rev Fr Mukundane thanked all parishioners for the hospitality and cooperation they have exhibited during his 9 years and three months of tenure at Kagamba parish.

He pledged to keep his friendship with the people of Ntungamo district particularly Kagamba and Rweera parishes.

He started his priesthood at Rweera parish in 2006 where he spent 7 years from where he was transferred to Kagamba in 2014.

Recently the Archbishop of Mbarara Catholic Archdiocese the Most Rev Lambert Beinomugisha announced transfers of priests with Rev Fr Conrad Nkamwesiga moved from Nyakyera Centre to Kagamba Parish as Parish Priest replacing Rev Fr Alphonse Mukundane who will now serve as a Parish Priest in Rugazi from Tuesday next week.

Other speakers were Dean Sacred Heart Ntungamo Rev Fr John Baptist Tumusiime, Rev Fr James Nyendera, Denis Singahache, Amrose Kagaba the parish council man, Kamayangi Gloria and Lion president Kazoora Venetius.
