Memory card kills one in Sheema district


SHEEMA- One person has been confirmed dead in Sheema district following bloody fight over memory card’s money.

The deceased is Kwetegyeka Joshua 19, a resident of Ibanga II village, Marembo ward, Kitagata Town council in Sheema district.

The Greater Bushenyi Police spokesman SP Marcial Tumusiime confirmed the incident adding that the deceased died shortly after being admitted at KIU teaching hospital Ishaka.

It’s alleged that Moses, the brother to the deceased, sold his memory card to Kweyamba Freedom, a brother to the suspect Kweyamba Britas.

On Tuesday 20th September 2022 at around 11pm, the four were coming from a bar and on the way along Kitagata-Mutara road, Moses demanded for his money from Freedom for the memory card he had sold to him which the didn’t have.

After begging him for a long time for his money in vain, they started a fight that attracted Britas to rescue his brother Freedom as the deceased joined the battlefield to rescue his brother Moses.

In the process Kweyamba Britas took off, went to his home and got a panga, waylaid the colleagues in a distance of about 400 meters and cut the deceased on the neck.

The victim now the deceased was rushed to KIU hospital for treatment where he was pronounced dead by doctors on arrival and his body was later conveyed to Kitagata hospital mortuary pending postmortem examination.

The police mouthpiece told the press that Kweyamba Britas (suspect) is still on the run but police are seriously hunting him to answer related charges.
