Rukiga authorities issue stern warning as Uganda’s Ebola deaths skyrocket


NEWS- The Rukiga Resident District Commissioner Nayebare Fred Kyamuzigita has strongly warned people crossing Ugandan borders to ensure using rightful procedures to avoid contracting or spreading Ebola.

RDC Kyamuzigita’s message comes at a time when the number of people dying from Ebola continue to rise ever since Uganda registered her first case on Monday this week.

The first to be confirmed was a 24-year-old male a resident of Ngabano Village, Madudu Sub County in Mubende District after presenting EVD symptoms “Ebola Sudan strain” and later succumbed.

Kyamuzigita said that some people normally go through Porous borders, something he says is disastrous at such a time when it may become very hard for one to understand who is sick or not.

He further cautioned people living near the borders like Kamwezi in Rukiga, Katuna in Kabale, Chanika in Kisoro to ensure maximum safety for themselves by reporting whoever they suspect to be an outsider who enters via porous borders.

The RDC also assured the Public that the District security teams will not hesitate to arrest anyone who breaks the border post checkpoint procedures aimed at curtailing the spread of the Disease.

The RDC also warned people to desist from the acts of self-mediation but to rather seek Medical assistance from Medical experts whenever they feel Unhealthy.

According to information from the Ministry of Health so far, the cumulative number of deaths registered after the outbreak of the Ebola Sudan strain in Mubende district is now 11.
