NEWS– The Kabale District Resident Commissioner Godfrey Nyakahuma has squeezed Ryakarimira town council officials in Ndorwa West County in Kabale district to refund over Ugx 200 million meant to implement government programs in the area.
The accused officials include the Ryakarimira town council Town clerk Alex Ampeire and town council engineer Spencer Ngabirano who have both failed to account for the money that was released in 2021-22 financial year meant to work on government projects.
The Money in question include Ugx 100 million that was meant to work on Katwaaro – Kacerere road, Ugx 89 million that was meant to pay the contractor of the town council administration block and Ugx 12 million for Development Discretionary Equalisation Grant (DDEG) fund that was meant for renovation of Police and other buildings at the town council.
During the meeting that was on Thursday held at the town council hall, Nyakahuma asked the town council physical planner Brendah Murungi Atuheirwe to also account for the Ugx 100 million for town council physical plan of which she failed to account for.
Nyakahuma who was on his visit to the town council after receiving a notification from the whistle blowers understood that the money was swindled by town council officials and vowed to squeeze them until they cough the funds.

The Kabale district internal security officer Lauben Mutabazi, reminded the officials that they have authority from the head of the State to ensure that government funds are utilized in a proper manner and that he will not accept to lose his Job because of keeping deaf ear and Eye on people embezzling government funds. Mutabazi asked the officials to refund the money or they get embarrassed.

The Kabale District Deputy Resident Commissioner, Ronald Bakak implored civil servants to always ensure sanity especially when handling public funds warning that they either implement government programs or else they lose their Jobs.
