NEWS– Three traders dealing in timber in Kabale district are counting losses after their timber, furniture, machines and other property worth Ugx 80 million were razed by fire.
According to ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson, a fire outbreak incident is reported to have occurred on Monday afternoon at Bugongi in northern division in Kabale municipality.
Maate told Journalists that the timber workshops belong to Alex Nuwagaba, Patrick Ndamira and Joseph Mukasa.
Maate noted that upon landing on the information, fire and rescue services swiftly responded and put it off before it spread to other neighbouring structures.
He confirmed to our reporter that there wasn’t any person injured and the cause has been established as a short circuit due to machines that were left with power on without any attendant.
