RUBIRIZI – The government of Uganda has officially accepted to take over the ownership of Rutoto Secondary School in Rubirizi district.
The resolution was reached after 15 member Parliamentary Education and Sports committee held a meeting with the school Foundation body that had applied to turn it into a government aided school and they reached an agreement.
Rutoto Secondary School is found in Ndangaro Parish, Rutoto Sub county in Rubirizi district and the whole process of becoming a government aided school will cost at least Ugx 400 million.
Hon John Ntamuhira, the area MP who is also the chairman Parliamentary Education and Sports Committee asked parents to use the opportunity of getting a government aided schools and educate their children plus fighting the problem of many drop outs in the district.
Ntamuhira was accompanied by other committee members including Hon Katusiime Annet Mugisha, Hon Nathan Itungo, Hon Kakembo Micheal, Hon Mbwatekamwa Gaffa, Hon Patrick Nyanzi, Hon Loy Canon Yoram and Hon Jonathan Ibwaro among others.
They recommend that being a church founded school, the foundation body will need to get approval documents from West Ankole Diocese before the government officially takes over ownership.
Residents led by the chairman school management Mzei Eric Kateba welcomed the development and thanked their MP Hon Ntamuhira for his efforts towards the achievement. Many parents confessed that they have not been taking their children to school because they don’t have enough money to pay fees.The meeting was also attended by Rubirizi district Education Officials, RDC, CAO and religious leaders.
