BREAKING: NRM’s Kaguta withdraws from the race hours to election

SEMBABULE- Godfrey Aine Kaguta a brother to the National Resistance Movement NRM Presidential Flagbearer Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa has withdrawn from Sembabule county parliamentary race.

Sodo has been in court seeking court’s action to cancel the decision of the NRM Tribunal which led to him being denied the NRM flag for Mawogola North Constituency.

Sodo who was Mawogola North’s favorite was facing off with Foreign Minister Sam Kuteesa’s daughter Shartsi Musherure Namatovu Kuteesa who was running as an Independent candidate.

Shartsi had challenged Sodo in the highly contested NRM primaries which were decided by courts of law.

In the Primaries which were marred with violence, Sodo was announced winner but Shartsi challenged the polls by petitioning the Secretariat alleging that there were lots of malpractice.

Since there was no time to hold another election, the NRM secretariat decided to withdraw the party ticket from Sodo who had won it and ordered both candidates to run as independents.

But Sodo petitioned court to reverse this decision saying he won the primaries.

Court found that Sodo was the true holder of the party ticket and that the NRM Elections Tribunal erred when it denied him the flag.

Reasons for his withdrawal from the race are not yet known.
