KAMPALA- Dr Elisha Rutahigwa was today, Saturday August 8th 2020 nominated to contest for the Rukungiri Municipality Parliamentary NRM flag bearer in a pursuit for the 2021 General elections.
Dr Rutahigwa was today nominated by the party Electoral Commission Chairperson Dr Tanga Odoi having returned the fully filled nomination forms.
The NRM electoral Commission Chairman, Dr Tanga Odoi said the programme, which was supposed to start on Monday August 10th has been adjusted due to changes in the dates for the party delegates’ conference.
Dr. Odoi added that they are starting with members from Western and Eastern regions.
He, however, reminded aspirants to follow the Coronavirus standard operating procedures, although carrying a Coronavirus test certificate is not mandatory.
After his nomination, Dr Rutahigwa told the press that this is the time to change the leadership of Rukungiri Municipality and trusting it with the NRM in a bid to ensure service delivery and the municipality dwellers to share on the National cake.
Rutahigwa in 2016 contested for the seat but lost to the FDC’s Hon Mugume Roland Kaginda who is currently facing critics from his party arguing that his two years term is done as asserted in the party constitution.
