FDC’s Medard Gumisiriza quits Rukiga county Parliamentary race before nomination

RUKIGA- Gumisiriza Mederd, one of the FDC party members who was weighing himself on contesting for Rukiga county parliamentary seat has withdrawn from the race. 

Mr. Gumsiriza who is the former lecturer at mountains of Moon University in Fort portal was supposed to face the competition with Adison Kakuru, Herbert kabafunzaki, Besigye laston, Abaasa Eliab, Roland Ndyomugyenyi, Nebye Steven Rutaro and Musinguzi Elias Brian.

On Friday, Medard went to Rukiga district electoral commission offices in Muhanga town council while nominating his fellow competitor on FDC ticket Nebye Steven Rutaro.

Speaking with our reporter at the electoral commission office in Muhanga town council, Gumisiriza said that he was no longer interested in the race. 

Gumisiriza argued that he has already predicted irregularities in coming polls so that’s why he had formed a coalition with his fellow FDC members so as to win the ruling government.

He argues that he will support the FDC flag bearer for the betterment of the party and reduce confusion.

Gumisiriza adds that he will inform his entire supporters to support Nebye Steven Rutaro who is the FDC flag bear of Rukiga County.

James Mugarura , the Rukiga  District electoral commission returning officer  says that he has been alerted about the  Gumisiriza’s withdrawal.
