KAMPALA- The incumbent Rubabo County Member of Parliament Hon Mary Paula Turyahikayo was today Saturday morning August 8th 2020, been duly nominated to seek re-election on the National Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket to continue representing the area residents.
Hon Turyahikayo was nominated by the Chairman of NRM Electoral commission Dr Tanga Odoi after fulfilling all the requirements to be nominated for the seat.
Addressing the Press shortly after nomination, Hon Turyahikayo noted that it’s time to continue with the development of Rubabo County under the leadership of the ruling National Resistance movement NRM.
“I take this honor to thank God that I was this morning nominated to contest for the Rubabo County seat in a continued effort to serve our people effectively” Hon Mary Paula noted.
She added, “Now that I have been officially nominated, am offering myself to continue the developments and as well as starting on new projects all aimed at taking Rubabo to the next development level”.
Clad in yellow attire, Hon Turyahikayo was the first candidate to be nominated for the Rubabo Parliamentary seat at around 09:08 am.
The NRM electoral Commission Chairman, Dr Tanga Odoi said the programme, which was supposed to start on Monday August 10th has been adjusted due to changes in the dates for the party delegates’ conference.
Dr. Odoi added that they are starting with members from Western and Eastern regions.
He, however, reminded aspirants to follow the Coronavirus standard operating procedures, although carrying a Coronavirus test certificate is not mandatory.
Meanwhile Kinkizi East upcoming politician Deus Nkwasibwe also known as ‘Omusisa’ has been nominated and declared a duly certified candidate to contest on the NRM ticket to uproot Minister of State for Housing Dr Chris Baryomunsi.
Nkwasibwe was nominated at 9:15 am and effectively became the first politician from Kanungu District to be nominated.
He told our reporter that his decision to contest was a response to a call by the People from Kinkizi East who asked him to tackle issues of developmental retardation that have persisted in the constituency for close to 10 years.
“My representation will be demand driven on the needs of the the voters and I will use my position to ensure that there is service delivery” Nkwasibwe said.
