RUKUNGIRI- The Rubabo County legislator Hon Mary Paula Turyahikayo has been duly nominated to contest as a candidate for the area parliamentary seat in the 2021 general elections.
Mary Paula was nominated on Thursday morning October 15th 2020 at the Rukungiri District Headquarters by the District Returning Officer Mr. Abasi Namara K.
Speaking to the press shortly after nomination, Turyahikayo highlighted the priority work areas such as infrastructure and income generation particularly roads, bridges that will provide market access for the people of Rubabo, increasing electricity coverage to all areas of the constituency.
Turyahikayo highlighted that they have already fulfilled some developments in the area citing good road coverage though the area roads are being disturbed by the current rains.
She added that she will as well look at lobbying others services that people want for example the Kamirantende Bridge and continued extension of electricity to all areas in her constituency.
Others who were nominated today include Hon Maj Gen Jima Katugugu Muhuhwezi for Rujumbura county seat, Apollo Kabano Kyabarongo and George Owakukiroru Tumwesigye all eyeing for the Rukungiri Municipality seat on an independent ticket.
Joselyne Winnie Babihuga was also nominated for the Rukungiri District woman Parliamentary seat, Sylvin Gumisiriza an ANT candidate for Rujumbura.
