MITOOMA- The Mitooma district NRM Administrative Secretary, Julius Kagina has vowed not to ally with any independents in the forthcoming general elections.

Kagina was talking to our reporter at his office in Mitooma Town council, Mitooma district after completing the NRM Primary elections that had started earlier this month.

He said as NRM, they have to unite and kick out those who coming as independents because they want to destabilize the NRM family.

“I will be the one fighting the independents, because these party flag bearers are now our children and they need our support”, he said.

The flag bearers mentioned were Maj Gen Kahinda Otafiire for Ruhinda Constituency, Capt Mugabe Dononzio Kahonda for Ruhinda South, Thomas Tayeebwa for Ruhinda North, Juliet Agasha Bashisha for district woman MP, Benon Karyeija Boneza for district chairperson and among others.

Our trusted sources have already revealed that Arinaitwe Jacqueline commonly known as Mugore has declared her independent candidacy in the general elections.

Mugore was the 3rd in the district woman MP party primaries with Juliet Agasha in the 1st position with 25,228 votes, Hon Jovah Kamateeka 23,227 votes, Arinaitwe Jacquiline Mugore 22,905 votes, Muhaise Joan 3,128 votes and Nuwamanya Jacquiline 41 votes

The secretary rubbished some of the petitions logged by candidates saying the poll was free and fair and was also declared according to the votes garnered from the people of Mitooma.

“I have seen that Kamateeka petitioned, what she was petitioning because we counted the votes and she lost, as voters they supported Juliet and we counted votes one by one she won. If Kamateeka is petitioning then that’s her own observation but as a party we are satisfied with the results” he added.

Karitundu Alex Okanga who also lost to Karyeija Benon in the LC5 race also complained of irregularities that surrounded the poll.

“The votes were bought, I don’t want chain leadership in Mitooma district and I will not accept this impunity here because it has hindered development. I have already petitioned and I will soon tell you my last decision”, karitundu explained.

However, the Mitooma district NRM Chairperson Wilberforce Byaboneka had earlier confirmed to our reporter that the poll in Mitooma for the first time was very peaceful with some few cases of voter bribery by some politicians.
