SSEMBABULE- Tension continues to mount in Mawogola north Ssembabule district after the NRM election tribunal disqualified Godfrey Kaguta Aine commonly known as Sodo as the NRM flag bearer for Mawogola North constituency.
Sodo, President Museveni brother’s victory had earlier been contested by his rival Shartsi Musherure Kutesa the daughter of the foreign minister Sam Kahamba Kutesa who presented evidence of multiple irregularities before the NRM Tribunal.
The Mawogola NRM primaries had been postponed on grounds of violence until the polling day when Sodo defeated his rival with 1500 votes.
NRM director of communications Emmanuel Dombo confirmed that the NRM tribunal had found all allegations brought by Musherure valid and then forwarded the matter to CEC for action.
“I don’t know whether CEC will sit tonight because at the end of the day we need a flag bearer to be nominated tomorrow Friday,” Dombo said.
It should be remembered that Shartsi Musherure Kutesa is a sister to Charlotte Nankunda Kutesa the wife to first son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Sodo disqualification news is expected to be received with tension and chaos among the constituents in Mawogola North who accuse the Kutesa family of neglecting them for the entire years Sam Kutesa has been their representative in parliament.
Constituents say they have high hopes in Sodo whom they say is very down to earth, dependable and willing to help the local people.
