KAMPALA- President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has congratulated the leaders of newly created Cities in Uganda and called upon them to work in harmony.
The newly created Cities who started operating on July 1st 2020 include Jinja, Arua, Gulu, Masaka, Fortportal, Mbarara, and Mbale.
President Museveni noted that the creation of these cities is a milestone in the history of Uganda and many more will follow in the coming years.
“The elevation of these cities is an acknowledgement of the growth of the towns but more importantly a move to ensure thst more services are brought closer to the people” President Museveni noted in his congratulatory massage.
President Museveni however advised the political and technical leaders to work together in harmony if the cities are to be run efficiently to deliver to the people’s expectations.
He also urged the citizens living in these cities to get actively involved in running these cities especially by playing an oversight role to develop their areas.
