NTUNGAMO- NRM electoral commission Chairperson Dr Tanga Odoi today presided over elections to elect flag bearer for Ntungamo municipality Mayor, the election was previously postponed after candidates in the political race ferried in voters from other areas to vote for them on 14th September.
Dr Odoi himself organized polling stations, read registered voters and at some polling stations were seen dismissing non-voters using a walking stick.
The election between the incumbent Mr Jacob Kafureka Jaka Jex, the Municipality Eastern division Chairperson Hajji Hakim Muheki Rwomushana and Eastern Division Councilor Mr Ronald Bukenya was a highly anticipated event before it was suspended and postponed by Dr Tanga Odoi himself on the day other municipalities voted.
Dr Tanga said the election was becoming a mess because of non-voters got involved in the process as many people were ferried from villages to vote because no other village is voting when the municipality is voting at the same time.
By press time results had not been declared however Mr Jacob Kafureka who had won from all the 26 polling stations in the municipality was expected to win and supporters had gathered on streets to celebrate.
Dr Tanga Odoi cautioned leaders against any violence and vote rigging saying he would cancel anyone who is involved in the process even if they won the vote.
