RUKUNGIRI- The Police in Rukungiri District have in detention two people to help them in investigating the cause of death of David Mwangirake 86, a resident of Rushebeya cell Murama parish Nyakishenyi sub county Rukungiri District.
According to Elly Maate the Kigezi region Police spokesman, Mwangirake is alleged to have left his home on 13th September 2020 on invitation by a friend Benon Baguma 60 resident of Nyamabare cell, Rwanyondo parish, Nyakishenyi SC in Rukungiri district to share local booze.
Maate adds that Baguma who is in a polygamous family setting hosted his visitor in his first home before leaving him behind to his 2nd home.
Police investigations indicate that at an unknown time the deceased decided to go back home but was nowhere to be seen until a case of disappearance was reported on 15th September 2020 at Nyakishenyi police.
At this point, the relatives started tracing for him until he was recovered lifeless yesterday in a trench.
According to Maate, Baguma and his wife Rosette Tumuhimbise will help Police to thoroughly investigate how the later passed on.
“We have two people in custody so far and we are sure they will account for how the deceased met his death” IP Maate said in a statement.
The Kigezi Police PRO added that whoever could be having any information concerning this man’s death to render it to Police so that the perpetrators are brought to book and charged.
The case of suspected murder was registered at Rukungiri Police station vide CRB 1738/2020.
