Rukungiri youths run for peaceful election


RUKUNGIRI- The Rukungiri youths under the forum, Rukungiri Youth Empowerment Network [RUYEN] have this morning passed on a message of peaceful 2021 general election period through a “peaceful election run” held in Rukungiri municipality.

The 8km run commenced from Rukungiri main stadium and attracted masses especially the youths from different Political camps in observance of Health Ministry’s standard operating procedures SOPs.

RUYEN with a membership of 320 subscribers aims at coordinating the youths from the district for a common voice. 

Adam Abaho, the RUYEN chairperson hailed the participants for the spirit exhibited in the event stressing that a peaceful election will lead the country to more development.

Among the participants was the Rukungiri District Police Commander DPC, SP Henry Kintu, DISO Hakim Viga, the Rujumbura county Parliamentary candidate on the Alliance for National Transformation ANT ticket Hon Sylivin Gumisiriza among others.

Uganda will on January 14th 2021 vote for the President and Parliamentarians who will lead the country for the next five years term.

The Presidential seat is being contested for by 11 people but the tight race seems to be between the Incumbent and NRM flag bearer Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa, NUP’s Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert aka Bobi Wine, FDC’s Patrick Amuriat Oboi among other 8 independents.
