Sheema District registers 1st Coronavirus case as 13 new cases are confirmed

Ministry of Health confirms 117 new COVID-19 cases as cumulative tally rises to 9,082

KAMPALA- The Ministry of Health has confirmed 13 new coronavirus cases from 2,696 samples tested on Friday August 7th 2020.

This according to the Ministry brings the cumulative total confirmed coronavirus cases of Ugandans to 1,267.

Of the newly confirmed cases, 1 is a truck driver who arrived via Ngomoromo, Lamwo, 3 are contacts to previously confirmed cases including 1 from Kampala, 1 from Nakaseke and 1 from Ngora.

The Ministerial statementalso confirms that 6 new cases are alerts who include 2 from Kampala, 1 from Kisoro, 1 from Sheema and 2 from Wakiso.

The statement adds that 3 other new cases are returnees, 2 from South Sudan and 1 from DRC.

Additionally, 19 foreign truck drivers tested positive for Coronavirus at the border points of entry and their entry into the country was not permitted.

Uganda has todate registered 1,115 coronavirus recoveries and 5 deaths.
