KIRUHURA- Tension continues to mount residents and authorities in Kiruhura District in Western Uganda as a suspected coronavirus patient dies at Rushere community hospital.
The deceased according to the information obtained by this online publication was admitted on Monday July 27th 2020 after developing coronavirus like symptoms.
Ivan Kamya the Kiruhura District health officer says the deceased was later isolated at Bwashamure isolation centre in Kenshunga Sub county. According to Kamya, the deceased’s situation worsened and they picked samples from him for further testing.
”He later turned very ill, we picked samples picked from him to the Uganda Virus Research Institute but unfortunately he died on Saturday before his results were released” Kamya told our reporter.
“He presented signs and symptoms that include body weakness, sore throat, and headache at the time of his admission” Mr Kamya added.
The deceased was buried on Saturday by the National Covid-19 force in charge of burials amidst tight security.
Mr. Aminadab Muhindo, Kiruhura Resident District Commissioner and the Chairperson of the District Coronavirus taskforce called for calm as they wait for results.
Mr Aminadab however asked whoever that might have come into contact with deceased to go for self-quarantine to ascertain safety of their lives.
Uganda has todate registered a total of 1,182 confirmed Coronavirus cases, 1,045 recoveries and four deaths.
