RUKUNGIRI- Following the Electoral Commission announcement releasing the General Elections Roadmap the rush for aspirants to openly declare their intentions for political has more than doubled.
In Kebisoni Town Council in Rukungiri District, youthful Akampa Rugaba Biretwaho has declared that it’s time for a new generation to take on leadership position and steer the newly created Town Council to greater heights and make it a model Local Government.
Born to the Late John Johns Biretwaho and Late Akatukunda residents of Kabashaki Cell in Eastern Ward in Kebisoni Town Council, Akampa studied at Kahengye Primary School before he proceeded to Muntuyera High School-Kitunga in Ntungamo District for both O and A Level.
While at Muntuyera High School, Akampa started his leadership journey when he became the Head Prefect and also served as treasurer of Uganda Secondary Schools Prefects Association (USSPA).
Akampa then proceeded to Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi, where he obtained a Bachelors Degree in Democracy and Development Studies.
He has since served on on many Boards and Committee, notably Uganda Youth Uganda Youth Network (UYONET), Uganda Youth Advisors To Washington DC, and also is also founder member of Youth Advocacy Foundation-Uganda (YAFU), Kigezi Development Association (KDA) and Social Innovations Academy-Mpigi among others.
Akampa has worked on the National Organising Committee for Buy Uganda, Build Uganda (BUBU) and the Expo and Policy Education Teams.
Akampa Rugaba Biretwaho has worked on several programs and projects by Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) USAID, PEPFAR, European Union Delegation in Uganda and The United Kingdom, Denmark and Sweden.
He also worked with Stop Aids Now-Netherlands, Konrad Adeneur Stiftung, Fredrick Ebertsung, and Germany Political Foundations.
Akampa Rugaba has supported over 32 families in piggery projects to increase household incomes and also lobbied for Ugx 30 million for Kebisoni Teachers SACCO, and provides Public Address System for the Town Council, given cabbage seedlings and poultry to people as well as put in place a bursary scheme for girls who finish P.7 with first grade from poor backgrounds to access further quality education.
Akampa Rugaba Biretwaho stands for stream lining service delivery, transparency and accountability, by ensuring that government funds and other grants from donors are put to proper use.
Having born and raised within Kebisoni Town Council, Akampa who wants to contest on the NRM ticket said that he understand the dynamics of Kebisoni political terrain and has been moving from house to house sensitising the people on need for self sustaining household incomes.
It’s from this background that Akampa Rugaba Biretwaho has therefore offered himself to contest and become the next Kebisoni Town Council Local Government Chairman.
